The wait is almost over for WWE fans in Japan who have been clamoring for the WWE Network. The network is set to launch on January 5th, 2016 for only $9.99 according to an article by Asian Review.

WWE Chief Strategy and Financial Office George Barrios commented on the launch, “Japan has a long wrestling tradition,” he said. “We have a very loyal and passionate fan base. Japan is very, very important for our global strategy.

Initially all of the offerings on the Network will be in English, “over time we will decide if it makes sense for us to translate some of the content (into Japanese)”

He also added, “Asia is a terrific growth opportunity for WWE and we see a big opportunity over the next five or 10 years across the region.”

Barrios also spoke to WWE’s future expansions to China and the rest of the world, “People around the world identify with WWE entertainment. They understand the story line of good vs. evil, or of a young champion trying to take the crown of the longtime champion.

They get the emotion of that. There is the appreciation of the athleticism our talent have on the screen when they perform.”
