Dragon Gate Bans Streamers Due To Global Warming

Japanese pro wrestling promotion Dragon Gate has banned the throwing of streamers at their events. The reasoning apparently has something to due with global warming (seriously).

From Dragon Gate:

This time, in the Dragon Gate it is decided to prohibit the paper tape to be thrown into the players at all venues from the Edion Arena Osaka Games on Saturday, July 01 (Saturday) in principle.

There are also guidance from local governments who are having difficulty in disposing from the viewpoint of environmental problems aimed at considering CO2 generated by incineration for garbage that occurs in large quantities at each event, It is up to us as we have decided as above.

We sincerely thank you for your understanding and cooperation by all our fans.

Dragon Gate Co., Ltd.

While this is probably not an issue with the majority of pro wrestling fans, many Japanese wrestling fans, as well as super indy fans seem to enjoy the tradition of throwing streamers at their favorite performers.

So now besides having a higher electric bill, you can also add having your streamers taken away to the list of climate change theory casualties.

This ban comes on the heels of NJPW banning the throwing of streamer at their LA events.
